This study aims to analyze the causal relationship between military spending and economic growth in ASEAN-5 countries. The ultimate goal is to end hunger and malnutrition by 2030, which is a goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Achieving this goal requires a sustainable food production system that implements resilient agricultural practices. One of the indicators in assessing food security is the prevalence of Undernourishment. This study aims to analyze and determine the effect of Economic Growth, Poverty, Rice Production, Rainfall, and Temperature on the Prevalence of Undernourishmnet in Indonesia. This study uses panel data from 2018 to 2022. This study uses an equation model using the Random Effect Model (REM). The results of this study indicate that rice production and rainfall have a significant effect on the prevalence of Undernourishment, while the variables of economic growth, poverty, and temperature have no significant effect on the prevalence of inadequate food consumption. The influence of these variables is expected to encourage the improvement of national food security.
Rani Susanti Muhammad Irfan Copyright (c) 2024 Media Riset Ekonomi Pembangunan (MedREP) 2024-12-11 2024-12-11 1 4 Determinan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan : Studi Kasus Middle and Advance Economic Countries in ASEAN https://medrep.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/MedREP/article/view/120
The analysis was conducted using the ordinary least squares regression technique, utilizing both long-term and short-term perspectives (Error Correction Model). The findings indicate that, in the long run, the urban growth coefficient of 0.527062 exhibits a positive correlation with poverty but lacks significance (Prob. 0.2132 > 0.05). In contrast, in the short term, the urban growth coefficient of 0.9688 demonstrates a significant positive effect on variations in poverty rates (Prob. 0.0380 < 0.05). The HDI reveals a coefficient of -1.302436, indicating a substantial negative influence on poverty in the long term (Prob. 0.0239 < 0.05), although it is insignificant in the short term (Prob. 0.2431 > 0.05). Economic progress significantly and negatively impacts poverty, with a long-term coefficient of -0.316407 (Prob. 0.0062 < 0.05) and a short-term coefficient of -0.1968 (Prob. 0.0002 < 0.05). This study uses the VECM method and shows that monetary policy, through interest rates and money supply, effectively manages inflation, economic growth, and exchange rates in the long run, despite variations in the short-run impact. These results suggest a lag in the transmission of monetary policy and emphasize that the Indonesian economy is heavily influenced by external factors, such as world oil prices and economic growth in developed countries. Rising oil prices depress the rupiah exchange rate and increase inflation, while growth in advanced economies supports rupiah stability. An increase in interest rates and money supply also strengthens the exchange rate, as per Mundell-Fleming theory, making monetary policy an effective tool for macroeconomic stability.
Suhendri Doni Satria Copyright (c) 2024 Media Riset Ekonomi Pembangunan (MedREP) 2024-12-11 2024-12-11 1 4 Analisis Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Penyerapan Tenaga Kerja Sektor Industri Dan Pertanian Di Indonesia https://medrep.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/MedREP/article/view/118
